Work Friend – “Slouching”

Work Friend - Slouching

Formerly the Hicks Canyon BandWork Friend sheds the Americana influences for something more natural, their home state, California. The band is more or less the evolution of its leader, Spencer Hannemann. Solo artist gets stymied, and then gets inspired by others to form a group. Group records album, then adds a guitarist for something different. This latest incarnation is distinctly modern rock and sounds like a cross between Dan Bazan and Mark Oliver Everett (Eels). The bright guitars paired with earnest lyrics  make Slouching easy to like and play all spring. The album screams California and demands to be played.

Consider These…
