We are less than three weeks away from Spazz Fest V, and this year is bigger than ever. All this week, we will preview by venue the artists performing at this year’s event. Here’s what’s slated for Thursday, March 20 at Tipsy Teapot. Doors open at 7 PM.
Bombadil (Durham, NC)
Bombadil returns to Greenville as the headlining band for the opening Tipsy show. Fans love their brand of intelligent and expertly crafted indie pop.
Matt Phillips and the Philharmonic (Greenville, NC)
They may have moved out to the Triangle, but this band got its start here in Greenville. Playing a mix of jazz, soul, and folk music, they bring the house down whenever they play.
Lobo Marino (Richmond, VA)
Laney Sullivan and Jameson Price create experimental folk music that is deeply soulful and draws from a rich palette of international influences. They wowed us at an open mic ‘drop in’ in January, and we’re looking forward to a full set at Spazz Fest.
Antique Animals (Jacksonville, FL)
Antique Animals is a six-piece alternative pop outfit that draws from power pop and folk influences. The released All That Sure Is Death and Texas in 2013, and you can name your price on Bandcamp.
Tragic Magic (Goldsboro, NC)
I have to admit that I am really looking forward to Tragic Magic. There’s always some band I come away loving even more after seeing them live, and this is the bet for this year. Their sound falls somewhere between Tom Waits and Modest Mouse.
