Discover Glass Elephant

Featured debut: Atlantic released 30 April 2013

Atlantic

Glass Elephant recorded Atlantic over the winter in the Poconos. The Brooklyn-based quartet’s debut is entirely self-recorded and self-produced, which makes it all the more surprising. The tracks on this album are filled with subtle detail that seems to expand with each listen. It’s a beautiful debut and independent release.

“Cedar Shake Home”

Check out the video for the new track, “Lithely”, recorded live at Braund Studio.

If you are in NYC: Glass Elephant’s next gig is at Cameo Gallery in Brooklyn with Dumpster Hunter on June 3rd (that’s tomorrow!). They plan to tour in late August and have plans to work on a follow-up EP. Purchase/stream Atlantic on Bandcamp.

Consider These

BoxedWine_CheapFunBoxed Wine
“Cannibal”
“On the Run”
from Cheap, Fun
released 21 May 2013
Boxed Wine’s first LP follows the mantra, “if it ain’t broke, build off it” or simply put: play to your strengths. The dance rock mavens from New Jersey amp up the party factor and improve upon their self-titled EP with better production and another year of playing live. Cheap, Fun will appeal to fans of Two Door Cinema Club and Phoenix. The pedal to the metal rhythm, fuzzy chords, and clever dance leads combine to make an insanely fun, pop-in-your car, summer album. Pay what you want for Cheap Fun on Bandcamp.

Double Dagger“Heretic Hymn” [free download]
from 333
released 22 April 2013
Double Dagger make righteous punk with a cognizant heart. “Heretic Hymn” brashly opens before droning away into a meditative state. Double Dagger released the documentary If We Shout Loud Enough on April 20.

Krill – “Purity of Heart”
from Lucky Leaves
out 24 June 2013
Odd timing signatures marked by abrupt starts and stops and great production stamp “Purity of Heart.” Pre-order Lucky Leaves via Bandcamp.

Pressed And“Decision Made”
from Stone Candles
out 04 June 2013
Enchanting downtempo track that walks you down a wooden path of disembodied voices and psych rock riffs that continually evolves before fading away.

Young Aundee
“Aimless”
[free download]
“Young Tuesday” (Yaz cover) [free download]
“Aimless” skirts the line between chill wave and trip hop. Young Aundee gets help from Dusty Brown to pull off an excellent cover of Yaz’s “Young Tuesday”; even getting some props from Yaz’s Vince Clarke. Nice work, and we recommend you follow the Sacramento artist on Facebook.

Videos, videos, videos…

Caged Animals – “Cindy + Me”
Single release on 17 June
to appear on a forthcoming album
The tune is cool enough, but it’s the shout out to 80s style video production that really grabbed me.

Terry Emm – “Loved and Never Lost”
single out 3 June 2013
An elegant arrangement of strings complement Emm’s reflective lyrics and rhythm guitar. It’s not flashy, but endearing nonetheles–simply enjoyable.

Plant Parenthood – “Transit Town”
from Feeling Good
released 29 May 2013
If you ever have an inkling to record a lo-fi track, you should listen to this track first. It’s absolutely done right. PS – I love the cheap ass sunglasses from 1988.

Cheers…
