Evening Edition 02-April-13

MAILtime

Case Conrad – “Lonely Lightly Low Shine”
from Leikko
out sometime in 2013
Recorded in parts during residential stints in Barcelona, London and Malmö, Leikko is the second LP from Swedish band, Case Conrad. “Lonely Lightly Low Shine” skates between the dark and the light pensively. I love Robert “Lucky” Johnson’s subtle picking on this track.

Jenny Hval – “I Called”
from Innocence Is Kinky
out 19 April on Rune Grammofon
Norwegian noise pop songstress Jenny Hval worked with PJ Harvey producer John Parish on Innocence is Kinky. “I Called” entices with slow chord changes and slide guitar before smashing cymbals and noise dominate the chorus. Nice bridge!!!

Lauren Mann & the Fairly Odd Folk – “Lost Myself”
from Over Land and Sea
out 9 April
Lauren Mann and the Fairly Odd Folk are out of Alberta. “Lost Myself” presents unique instrumentation coupled with sweet harmonies. The band plans to tour this spring in support of Over Land and Sea. Check their website for details.

Little Daylight – “Name in Lights”
single
Brooklyn-based dream pop outfit’s new tune drifts with bouncy rhythm. The follow-up to “Overdose” is a bit breezy and breathless.

Olympians – “Filling My Heart with Weird Dreams” [free d/l]
from Adventure Gun EP
out 29 April on Barely Regal Records
UK-based, math pop band fuses delicate harmonies with skeptical ideas of romance.

Veronica Falls – “Found Love in a Graveyard” [mp3]
Live on KEXP
February 2012 Sampler
Sweet performance that recalls the C86 era of Britpop. Love the harmonies.

Cheers…
