Inspired and the Sleep Release “Teenager”
Over the past year, we’ve featured several singles from Max Greenhalgh aka Inspired and the Sleep. Earlier this week, he dropped his long awaited LP, “Teenager”, which is out on Bad Panda records. At just 20 years old, Max wrote and recorded all of this material before his twentieth birthday earlier this year.
Inspired and the Sleep specializes in a form of experimental psych pop that relies heavily on harmonies and polyrhythmic percussion and sounds. It’s as if Greenhalgh is some lost member of Brian Wilson’s lineage. Creative, daring and inspirational (no pun intended), Teenager will appeal to those who like their pop a little weird, yet accessible.

Get the Teenager for $1 at Bandcamp… yep, one US dollar!
The Bloogs – “Freezing Rain”
out 3 December on all the “usual outlets”
Zombies ate my band… just a solid pop tune that has Amboy Dukes meets Byrds quality to it with the pop sensibilities of The La’s.
California Wives – “Tokyo”
from Art History
out now on Vagrant Records
This is the second release we’ve featured from this album, and it’s clear that California Wives can write a solid synth pop song, and it’s great to see the genre back in vogue. Check Different Sleep’s remix of “Tokyo” below.
“Tokyo” Remix by Different Sleep
If you thought the original was chill…
Sacha Talens – “Peaches d’Azote”
from The Bathurst Movement
out 14 Janvier 2013
The Montreal artist revels in complex power pop with delightful quirks. This is his debut album, and if you like “Peaches d’Azote” you’ll love this album.
Winter People – “The Banker’s Lament”
from A Year At Sea
Here’s my catch all phrase for this act–Earnest indie pop from Australia! This from their debut LP. They also have an EP for featuring the single “Gallons.” If you like “The Banker’s Lament”, I suggest you check out more from Winter People on SoundCloud. You can purchase their sounds on iTunes.
Videos, videos, videos
Get People – “Back to Dust”
Single b/w “Cupid’s Curse”
out 19 November on Luv Luv Luv Records
This ambient, borderline chill wave material is delicious, plus it has a pretty trippy video to go along with it.
Tame Impala – “Feels Like We Only Go Backwards”
from Lonerism out now
At once power pop and psychedelic, it’s hauntingly beautiful.
