On the Radar: Magnolia Shoals

The music of Denmark’s Magnolia Shoals is defined by a stout rhythm section and menacing baritone.  The density and gloom of the songs on Life Danced in the Flesh suggests inspiration from The Tindersticks and Interpol.  The rhythm on ‘I Will Roam Again’ is spectacularly languid, with synthesizer, piano, and sparse guitar completing a portrait of dour resignation; I wouldn’t be surprised to hear this track on the soundtrack of True Blood.  Life Danced in the Flesh is available on spotify, itunes, soundcloud, and facebook.
