Sunday Ramblings & Considerations: 03.11.12

In this edition: Pick up the dub-step/hip hop compilation from Philosophy Major, go see France Rocks Austin at SXSW, and this week’s videos.

Philosophy Major – Altered States Vol. 1

Philosophy Major is a collective of North Carolina dub-step, hip hop and trip hop artists who have released a free compilation called Altered States Volume 1. It’s a great sampling of material from artists who call the underground, home. Fans of the New Weird Australia series will definitely dig this. We’re proud to feature Greenville artist, Lamont Coal. You can download the entire compilation from the Bandcamp link below.

France Rocks Austin

If you’re planning to attend SXSW and need some direction, you might want to check out the France Rocks Austin event at Mohawk on March 14. Acts like the Octopus Project and Anoraak are familiar to fans of electronica and electronic pop, respectively. However, the line-up is far more diverse, and should introduce audiences to some of France’s top new acts.

Preview the sampler (with free downloads) for the France Rocks Austin event here.
