Rich Robinson of Black Crowes fame released his second album, Through A Crooked Sun, last month. Credit Public Radio East’s The Sound, a five-hour radio program specializing in Americana, Roots Rock, Folk, and Blues for the exposure to it.
Robinson is not a dynamic singer (like brother Chris), but he understands nuance and has good range. He makes the most of what he has. When the track, Lost and Found, opens you’re thinking, Crowes lite, but Robinson takes over and lets his vocals define the song as opposed to the arrangement. It’s great. His delivery is measured, mellow and heartfelt. Beyond Lost and Found, you can find streams below for the grinding, Gone Away, and the beautifully understated, Hey Fear.
