Austrian singer-songwriter Max Min professes to make “minimalist pop for maximum pleasure.” He may be onto something. This purveyor of power pop delivers in a big way on his latest single, Alpaca Socks.
His previous single, Anonymous, is reminiscent of the more accessible material from of Montreal’s Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer? You can pick that track up here.
A third single, When We’re Gone, is far more subtle. With a slight nod to David Byrne, Max Min coolly croons over layers of beautiful guitar melodies cresting over stringy synth beats.
In 2007, he debuted the LP, Bright Is the Silence. A follow-up album is scheduled for release in early 2012. During the interim, he’s releasing a new song a week on his website. We recommend following along.
