The Eversons are a four-piece outfit from Wellington, NZ. The band cites modern rock luminaries The Modern Lovers,The Clean, and Pavement as influences. We featured their tongue-in-cheek, I’m A Conservative on Blogophilia 30 and now have more to share.
Hyacinth Girl draws inspiration from the 60’s surf rock era with its pulsing chords and Beach Boy harmonies. You won’t be lulled into a California dream though, as the vocals are unmistakably Kiwi and lyrics are mired in self-conscious, post-punk anxiety. It’s simply splendid.
