Checking back with bands named LEISURE

A few weeks ago we pitted the US band, Leisure, out of Cambridge, Massachusetts against the UK band, Leisure, in an unofficial poll to see who gets to keep their name. Well, the people have spoken, and overwhelmingly supported the band out of New England.  Funny thing, less than 5% of the people who viewed this post actually voted. It’s good to see that voter apathy exists in the Blogosphere as well.

This, of course, is all very tongue-in-cheek. We enjoy both bands, who are very distinct and quite good at what each does.  Best of all, both bands have another single to share!

The latest single from the Boston-based Leisure is Green Light, a slow burner with soft piano keys and a pervasive, burning guitar that interplays nicely with Jed Rouhana’s palpable yearning. Leisure has a fantastic string of singles to this point, and we hope that an LP is on its way.

The trailer for their debut, Plastic Soul, has an interesting scene with Minnie Mouse in the Sumner Tunnel.

We’d be remiss not to mention that Leisure from the UK also have a free single, Businessmen In Suits. They maintain the bouncy, Brit pop beat of past efforts at a slightly slower pace. Like their Yankee counterparts, this outfit is compiling a nice set of releases.

and the madness over the band name, Leisure, continues. LEE-ZUR, LEZ-UR… whatever you want to call it, we all need more of it, and more from these bands.
