Friday Free Feature: The Quiet Americans

In the age of auto-tune, it is quite refreshing to once again encounter the barefaced aesthetic of cerebral noise pop.  Following in the tradition of Guided by Voices, J. Mascis, and Pavement, The Quiet Americans deliver fuzzed-out guitar and off-kilter melodies rendered via Tascam reel-to-reel.  Front man Luke Giffen alternates between Robert Pollard and Spiral Stairs personas, giving each their due.  This Fresno band is offering a digital copy of the Medicine EP for free on bandcamp, with a cassette tape version selling for $5.
