A brief post this morning, worky worky this morning. We have a tunes from The Deadline Shakes and Years and Years, and videos from Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros and Taken By Trees. Enjoy!
Listen:
The Deadline Shakes – “Sweeten the Deal”
Single
out November 5 on Flowers In the Dustbin Records
The Deadline Shakes are a quartet out of Glasgow, and “Sweeten the Deal” is their first release. It is a nice pop tune with bits of power pop and folk mixed in it.
–
Years and Years – “The Whale”
from the 7″ I Wish I Knew
out now on Good Bait
Plays like a mournful sea shanty. I think I like this better than the single.

Watch:
Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros – “Child”
from Here
out now on Vagrant
I love the silent acting in this. The Old Man is enchanted and invigorated by The Child.
Taken By Trees – “Large”
from Other Worlds
out now on Secretly Canadian
Victoria Bergsman is back for a third album. “Large” sounds surprisingly like early 80s new wave. Shot in Los Angeles’ Echo Park it has a home video quality that lends itself to Bergsman’s detached presence in this song.

Cheers…
