Paper Scissors – Lung Sum (single)
Paper Scissors are out of Sydney, and recently released their second album, In Loving Memory. The band continues to tour extensively in Australia, and will play throughout New South Wales into February. Here in the US, we’re strategizing how to get them across the Pacific. Marked by driving percussion and chilling background vocals, Lung Sum is an excellent single. We’re excited to hear what’s next from this Aussie trio.

The Twees Blitzkrieg Your Ears
It’s funny, how you can pick stuff out. I listened to the Twees’ new EP, These Girls, before I even read their PR materials, and I am thinking, “Wow! New York…” I hear the Ramones (from Forest Hills, Queens) and Lou Reed (from Freeport, Long Island) immediately. I look at their PR copy, and it reads, New York City. My guess was that they were from in and around the city, but I looked closer and they’re Long Island boys. No matter, this is good solid NYC-inspired punk. They call it garage, but these guys are descendants of the Ramones if anyone is, and to me, that’s a good thing. I friggin’ hate the Yankees, but I’ll take the Twees any day. This is a very nice first recording. These Girls, is out now—get it here.
