Son Volt Plays A Laundromat/Farrar and Gibbard to Tour Again
Son Volt stopped by the Laundromatinee and played a four song set that included: Dynamite, Dust of Daylight, When the Wheels Don’t Move, and Down to the Wire from the 2009 release, American Central Dust. I find it interesting that the folks at Laundromatinee refer to Dynamite as “Tarkio-esque.” I am pretty sure that Colin Meloy was influenced by Jay Farrar and not the other way around. Remember Uncle Tupelo?
Enough ranting from me… I like what sites like Laundromatinee and Big Ugly Yellow Couch are doing, and hope you’ll consider adding these sites as part of your music news regimen. I’ll feature things from each from time to time, like this:

Son Volt – Down to the Wire [mp3] from American Central Dust
One of my favorite Jay Farrar ventures was his collaboration with Ben Gibbard on the Kerouac documentary, One Fast Move Or I’m Gone: Kerouac’s Big Sur. It’s a wonderful interpretation of Big Sur, which represents a critical period in Kerouac’s life and artistic direction. Unfortunately for Jack, it all went south after that.

Lykke ‘Leaks’
The latest single from Lykke Li, I Follow Rivers, has leaked. It’s not risqué like its predecessor, Get Some, but the media machine continues to hype her new image, as seen above in her latest promotional photo. I wonder if she’ll start wearing flank steak?
