Daughter is the moniker of Elena Tonra who made her first recorded appearance on the Communion Compilation with the track Peter (see video below). This compilation was launched after a series of performances called Communion nights were held at several locations in and around London. These nights proved wildly successful in capturing the thriving nu-folk scene there, and led to a new label founded by Ben Lovett of Mumford and Sons and Kevin Jones (Cherbourg, Marcus Foster).
Vocally, Tonra compares favorably with the likes of Laura Marling and Dido. On her set of demos (link below), she performs as a traditional singer/songwriter (just her great voice and an acoustic guitar). Tonra is working to record a full-length album for release sometime in 2011.
