I am really digging the EP, Have You Met My Friend?, by New Mexico. The three-piece indie rock band from San Diego pound through most of the recording at top speed with tracks like Motion Sickness, Abused and Amused, Get a Job, Chosen Ones, and Quiet in the City. Case Closed (the apparent single) demonstrates that New Mexico has range that goes beyond the traditional three-piece punk album, as it offers a pleasant respite from an otherwise rapidly paced set of tunes (not that I am complaining–this whole album rocks!). In the interview below, the guys refer to their music as “dance happy” rock. Whatever you want to call it, it makes you move. I can imagine it’s a trip to see New Mexico live.
