The Happy Hollows
I woke up this morning and decided to see what was new on the Daytrotter site, and stumbled upon a set from The Happy Hollows. The Happy Hollows are a buzzy sounding indie rock band that feature the barre chord guitar playing and ear piercing vocals of Sarah Negahdari backed by the tight rhythm section of Charles Mahoney (bass) and Chris Hernandez (drums). The track, Faces, was on Blogophilia 14, but I have to admit not hearing much else beyond the EP, Imaginary, from 2008 with the single, Lieutenant.
So, I googled the Hollows to see what’s happening with this Los Angeles-based trio. Apparently, a lot is happening, and much of it is in support of their 2010 release, Spells. If you have time, check out this performance from SXSW at the Scoot Inn featured on Baeblemusic. It gives a great feel for their live stuff. They played NXNE in June, and ripped it up. Their MySpace site links to lots of interviews and featured performances from this year. Currently, they are winding down a summer tour and will resume touring later this fall:
